Mrs. Betty Hayes is a wonderful lady that is a volunteer reader through the Boone County Library, who takes the time out of her days to go and visit different places to read stories to young children. She is such a sweetie at heart. As she enters the door each time she comes, she presents herself with singing a wonderful song of its a beautiful day boys and girls. Today she visited us and read 3 different library stories on snow days. One was just snow pictures that the children could look at. Mrs. Betty Hayes has been coming to ABC now for almost a year. And the kids seem to really enjoy the library lady!!. We appreciate her so much.
Yippie, see all the places we can run
and all the toys we can jump on, and
ride. Awesome day to be outside.

All of this fun running, playing and enjoying that nice day that we had the other day. We were so blessed to get a nice day to go out and play without freezing our little bodies.

Happy birthday Keeton big one year old. He was a pro at digging into that little cake, it couldnt have been his

first time. What a big boy turning one year old.

While eating corn with our lunch today I remembered reading an article that was talking about how children are curious of where ... comes from but just don't understand how to ask. With knowing that the children should know  a little more about their little bodies. I figured maybe this might be a good time to discuss this.  Well they had a very good and simple explanation, in this article,  so I gave it a try since the subject came up as we were sitting down to eat lunch. So I asked, " what happens to all this food when in gets into our tummy's, what happens to it then ?. Kason explains, "Well it makes us grow bigger". Yes it does I said, but then what happens to it. Skyler said, " it goes to our toes and up our legs", Laurens eyes got real big, and said,  it makes us grow up real big, and it stays in our tummy's. So I said, well your right in a way, when we eat our food, our tummy's grind it up, ( with the hand motions) then it takes out all the good stuff, that helps our bodies grow and then the rest of the stuff that doesn't help our bodies, well..... we poop it out!. They giggled, Oh my gosh, yelps Kathy from the other room as she is putting out nap mats,  and was in shock that I would say such a thing, I told her, "well after eating all this corn with our lunch today I didn't want anyone having a bad experience seeing it later in a place they couldn't understand why its there!. Tanner started laughing and requested over and over that I say it again. Ms Sheryll say that again, chuckeling skidiously,  Hilarious.

We went for a walk today and gathered pine cones, we talked about where pine cones come from, and even though we picked them up off the ground they didn't grow there, we talked about how they grow in the trees, fall to the ground and shed seeds to produce more pine trees. Gathering them in and decorating some with glue and glitter giving  the effect of snow.

Tanner brought a nice puzzle today of a dog and cat, so he was sharing the task with his buddy Kason. As they have done many times before. These boys are getting really good at putting puzzles together.

Today's stories were about this big playful dog named Marley!. Author is John Grogan. The little girl in the story Cassie begged for a puppy. So her daddy come home from work one day with one. All the adventures of what comes with a new puppy dog, the bigger Marley got the more trouble he seemed to get into. The illustrations in the book are marvelous. The next book Marley goes to school, same author and Illustrator Richard Cowdrey, www.rcowdrey.com
Marley follows his best friend and owner Cassie to school, what an adventure.

All this concentration is beautiful. Using scissors is a excellent way  for the kids to develope better hand cordination. And boy do we need it. Working hard and they had some beautiful snow flakes to take home.

We had a fun time playing games this morning, one of our new ones was color and shape BINGO. One we will do more often., hum... they all could pronounce octagon
but me? I kept pronouncing it optagon,
Looking here how Elijah and Danica can keep themselves busy on their own while others were busy with their own play. The story Danica is reading called " The Crayon Box " is such a cute story of how the colors did not like each other until a little girl bought the crayons, took them home and colored a beautiful picture, when the crayons seen how working together what they could do, they all liked each other. So cute

Keeping Our Hands Busy

While getting our started we took out lots of puzzles and had a blast helping each other putting them back together again. Brayden, Peyton, and Brooklyn pictured here, very busy little guys!

Winter weather this week has just been so cold. The first few days of this week were fun in the snow for a few minutes, we really enjoyed eating it. With the school closings we have been able to enjoy the company of Allison and Brenna. And we are missing some of our other friends that will be back next week. We had Ms Betty here to read to us. Alicia has been keeping the kids busy in the afternoon with games and puzzles, Next week we will definitely be back on schedule.
We did have a visitor from Department of Human Services, my licensing specialist Mrs. Kelly McClelland, one of our inspections that come through out the year. We did awesome: A few of our newer kids we need to get those immunization shot records in and Ms Kathy and myself have to renew our verifications through the state ( background checks ) suppose to be updated every two years. And Kathy's TB Test. If your child gets shots updated please bring me a copy so that I can put it in their files.
Tomorrow we will be doing a craft making a snowman "Bur". So excited. Thank you everyone for being so patient with this web site. With Christmas here, bad weather, me turning into a grandma, I have not kept up daily like I wanted to, so life surely will slow down so things can get back to normal. Posted by Sheryll at 6:53 PM
